“Finding Peace Underwater”: Here’s my Diving Story with BOD 🤿
Pre-Dive Experience: “Why Scuba
21 Dec 2022If Komodo has been on your #bucketlist then it’s time to tick it off! You’ll spend a week diving by day and relaxing by night on Sebayur, an island that still looks wild and uninhabited with low-rise buildings that camouflage into the surrounding vegetation. This is a perfect trip for anyone who craves a bit of adventure and some of the world’s best diving.
In 1991, Komodo National Park was declared a World Heritage Site and a Man and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, and it’s easy to understand why. It has one of the world’s richest marine eco-systems featuring rare and endangered inhabitants and migrant visitors like large pelagic fish, mantas, sea turtles, dolphins, whales, and dugongs. Every day, divers spot anything from dogtooth tuna, giant trevally, barracuda, and hammerhead sharks to blue ringed octopus, sea horses, crocodile fish, and more! Not to mention it’s home to the 5,700 famous Komodo dragons that exist nowhere else in the world. On the trip, you may sign up to see these guys up-close and personal during an excursion to Rinca island. This excursion is not included in the package but can be arranged when you are on the island. Please be aware, the local government has limited access to the island for tourists. Prices can vary
June is one of the best month for diving in the “dry season” at Komodo and that’s when you’ll be there. There will be two dive days in Komodo National Park, with a total of nine dives to log on this trip! Your Dive Days will start around 8:30am when you board the resort’s 14-meter double-decker wooden boat and head out for the day. There are 35 absolutely breathtaking dive sites located anywhere from 10 minutes to 1.5 hours away from the resort’s pier.
We’ll be flying to Komodo and arrive at the resort in the afternoon. On this day, we will settle in and relax.
On our second day, we will do our first set of 3 dives either around the Komodo National Park area!!
On our third day, we will do our second set of 3 dives either around the Komodo National Park area!
Day 4! An “off day” with plenty of time to play tourist and soak in the sun and accommodations in a proper "chilled" dive resort.
On the last day of the trip, we'll have breakfast together and prepare for our way back home.
Between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores, in the heart of the Indonesian archipelago, lies the Komodo National Park.
It includes 29 volcanic islands, the larger of which are Rinca, Padar and Komodo. It stretches across land and water for a total extension of 2,000 km2.
On day 4, we will take half day to discover the beauty of Komodo by trekking Komodo National Park and Padar Pink Beach. You will for sure be amazed by the spectacular landscape, as well as you will feel an ease of the pure natural atmosphere that surrounds you.
Padar Pink Beach is famous for its light reddish sand color and turquoise water. Pink beaches in general are very rare, and there are only a handful of them worldwide.
At dusk, we will sightsee thousands of rinca flying fox leaving their roost and heading for their feeding grounds. It is a magnificent spectacle. You will hear them waking up and communicating. As soon as the sky becomes dark, they will all take off and fly in direction of Flores in an endless black line stretching over the sunset sky of Komodo National Park.
2 weeks in advance from the trip date.
You can bring along some snacks, extra cash for mini bars, beers and any additional tourism taxes that may apply. If you own any dive gear then you can bring that along as well!

Yes you can. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] to find out the additional night rates.
We do not recommend doing the pool sessions during the trip as everybody has a different learning pace. So the trip’s duration might not be enough for you to complete the training and get certified.
Sure, we can make arrangements for private trips for you and your family. Just let us know the location you would like to dive and we will propose the resort and dive arrangements.
